Style Chameleon: The Anorak

Happy Thursday folks!  It’s bright, it’s sunny and it’s brisk.  People are sipping their pumpkin spice lattes, breaking out their “dark” nail polishes and furiously Pinterest pinning crock-pot chili recipes.  Fall has OFFICIALLY arrived!

One of my favorite transitional pieces of clothing in my fall wardrobe is most definitely the anorak jacket.  Along with it’s obvious functionality, I just think it’s such an easy way to help bring some of your summer wardrobe favorites into the next season.  The neutral tones of the jacket also make it a great layering piece that will essentially work with anything- color, pattern, texture… you name it and it will coordinate.  Follow along with me and I’ll show you how to effortlessly work this piece 3 ways!

Let’s begin with our day time, run around, casual look.  Easy, right?

Playground Momma- The Anorak

1)  Velvet military army jacket / 2) American Eagle Outfitters plaid flannel shirt / 3) Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (I’ve been in love with the Plum version, as discussed HERE) / 4) Zara velour sweatshirt / 5) UGG Australia studded slipper (FINALLY, an UGG shoe I am not slightly embarrassed to wear out of the house!) / 6) KUT from the Kloth destroyed skinny jeans / 7) Warby Parker eyeglasses  / 8) MICHAEL Michael Kors tote bag

Next, let’s move on to a more uptown girls brunch vibe… put together, but still super comfortable and casual.  One of the best things about an anorak is that you can actually layer on TOP of it as the weather gets colder.  Try a vest for an added layer of warmth and some great texture and interest!

Lady Who Lunches- The Anorak

1) Velvet military army jacket / 2) Old Navy long sleeve sequin graphic t shirt (Old Navy has been killing it lately with their graphic tees and sweatshirts! LOVE. ) / 3) French Connection brown faux fur vest / 4)  Zara red crocodile colorblock handbag / 5) Current/Elliot skinny jeans / 6) ASOS belt (cinch this bad-boy around the jacket and vest to define your waist and bring the look together) / 7) Stuart Weitzman black patent over-the-knee boots

Last, but certainly not least, we come to the date night look.  I think this is where the anorak can work it’s transitional magic.  Layer this over a breezy summer dress and voila!  You have yourself a perfectly seasonal appropriate and 100% hot momma look.  Throw on a pair of opaque black tights and holiday season here you come! Now, who said you couldn’t wear white after Labor Day!? They’re wrong.

Hot Momma- The Anorak

1) Velvet military army jacket / 2) H&M lace dress (doesn’t this look MUCH more expensive than the $56 price tag?) /3) BaubleBar tassel pendant / 4) Deborah Lippmann nail polish / 5)  Kate Spade convertible clutch  6) Banana Republic gold belt (the touch of gold totally amps up the normally casual anorak/ 7) J.Crew gold sequin pumps

What are some of YOUR favorite ways to style the anorak?
