When putting together my wardrobe, or even my daily outfits, I am totally guilty of style stalking. Do you guys do that, too? I peruse my round-up of favorite celebs, bloggers and fashionistas and generally find a handful of outfits that I can easily put together using pieces and accessories I already own, or those that can be purchased for a fraction of the original designer cost. More importantly, I get inspired by the unique combinations of wardrobe staples that I may never have thought to put together. There are millions of people out there and many are just flat out more creative than me!
Sometimes, all it takes is a small tweak to entirely change a look that I’ve worn a million times. Take for example this designer denim-on-denim outfit below. As you know, the chambray shirt is one of my “go-tos” worn on the reg. I’ve literally worn chambray shirts threadbare! In this particular look (via SONG OF STYLE), I LOVE the way the denim-on-denim is paired up with BOTH camel and black. Neutrals are my jam, and this outfit is the ideal blend of neutral tones. If you’re worried about that ridiculous old rule about not wearing brown + black together:
1) get over it.
2) read THIS.
2) get thee some camel, STAT… it’s the gateway drug to pairing brown + black.
Here are some additional camel + black neutral options that I love, all at look-for-less prices:
If you see me later, there is about a 85% chance I’ll be wearing the outfit above. I don’t play.
