Winter gets old pretty fast.
Salt, sand, mud, grime, snow… all of these things don’t make cold weather fashion any easier. I have a style remedy though: find a special piece that gets you excited to step foot outside into the cold and makes you feel totally put together. Unlike a rainbow unicorn, these things really DO exist!
What I’m Wearing:
ZARA wool caped coat (sold out, but THIS or THIS is similar) // VINCE wool sweater (old, but THIS is similar)// HELMUT LANG legging jeans // STUART WEITZMAN “Lowland” boots // 3.1 PHILLIP LIM “Pashli” bag // ZARA slouchy beanie (sold out, but THIS is similar) // MIANSAI screw cuff // GILES & BROTHER skinny railroad spike cuff
For me, my seasonal savior has been a cape. Fitting that a cape can possess such crazy superpowers! No matter what I’m wearing underneath, when I slip on this caped coat I automatically feel exponentially more stylish. I picked up this grey wool ZARA number in the post-holiday clearance madness for a steal (unfortunately, it’s now sold out) and the compliments have been flowing non-stop each time I put on that topper.
Oh, before I forget, let’s talk about the boots for a second. I’ve been lusting over these Stuart Weitzman LOWLAND boots ALL season, but for the price, I just couldn’t justify a suede over-the-knee boot. Well, the fashion Gods must have thrown me a bone, because when I was in Nordstrom Rack shopping for a styling client, I came across the exact pair I loved, in MY size, that were sitting alone on a random rack, for over 75% off! I don’t think I have ever moved to the register any faster than I did that morning. Needless to say, I’m still over-the-moon about my boot score and have been wearing them every opportunity I can find.
Now, put those fancy boots together with the caped coat and you have yourself a pretty winter-chic outfit, if I do say so myself.
What are YOUR special pieces that get you excited about winter dressing?
