I’m typing this while sailing from NY to Bermuda — we arrive in port tomorrow. Obviously, there are so many great things I want to share with you all about this travel experience, but given the internet situation (pretty minimal) it will all have to wait until we return next week! In the meantime, let’s take a step back and focus on some good ‘ole summer style…
What I’m Wearing:
Shorts — Ralph Lauren Denim & Supply (old; THESE are similar!) // Blazer — Helmut Lang (old; THIS is similar!) // Tank — GAP // Sandals — Gianvito Rossi (old, THESE are similar!) // Necklace — Lili Claspe x Free People // Handbag — Celine (SIMILAR)
Boyfriend shorts are definitely the VIP of my summer bottoms. As someone who doesn’t wear shorts very often, I love having this go-with-everything summer staple in my style arsenal. Whether dressed up or dressed down, the hip-slung and cuffed, denim style is one that any woman can wear — regardless of age.
While some of the shorter cut-off styles can be a bit juvenile for those of us in the 30+ range, boyfriend shorts tend to fit slightly slouchier and run a little longer to provide more coverage and comfort. In true THD fashion, I love contrasting the casual short with dressier tops and accessories for a more sophisticated look that can easily transition day-to-night.
Don’t be afraid to throw a more structured and dressy blazer into the mix! I love the hourglass shape that a well tailored blazer can give a woman’s body. This single-button HELMUT LANG style is a classic in my wardrobe — the elongated lapel works magic in streamlining a silhouette! Play around with the sleeves to create a casual scrunch or cuff. Doesn’t seem like a big deal, but trust me… the more casual styling adds visual interest and a cool factor to the blazer to help you transition it out of the office environment.

OK, the clock just stuck 5pm and it’s now officially cocktail hour… Sorry to cut this post short, but a refreshing Negroni awaits!
