It’s Monday confession time…
I secretly wish I could be a dancer.
(Not that kind of dancer — get your mind out of the gutter!)
The kind of dancer that moves with effortless grace, leaping and twirling elegantly across the stage. A prima ballerina with perfect posture, enveloped in soft layers of tulle and satin.
Apparently, this Fall 2016 wishes do come true — ballet inspired style is going to be one of the biggest trends you’ll see hitting the racks over the next few weeks (along with velvet — REMEMBER?). From wrap-style tops to full, ballerina skirts and even ankle wrap ballet slippers (thank you, MIU MIU!) — looking like a professional dancer has never been easier.
As always, I love the contrast of the super feminine prima ballerina fall trend style with more tomboy basics. Don’t be afraid to pair your TULLE SKIRT with a structured DENIM JACKET and a pair of your favorite WHITE SNEAKERS!
Speaking of shoes, I’m in love with those SATIN ANKLE WRAP BALLET FLATS. Can you believe they are UNDER $25!? I think they would look fabulous worn with distressed denim. Have you tried uneven hem denim, yet — a.k.a. MULLET JEANS? The uneven hemline is an extension of the raw and fringed hems we’ve been seeing the last few months in stores and I’m a big fan. Isn’t it great how denim seems to have broken out of the skinny jeans mold and there are now so many fun and different denim options to choose from?
The key to styling this ballerina inspired fashion, is keeping the look from looking too precious or perfect. Rough it up, a little… from head to toe. Those ROSE GOLD PINS are just the pretty little detail you need to give the traditional chignon or bun a bit of edge.
Is the prima ballerina fall trend one that YOU will try?
