Moody Floral Midi Dress

I generally wouldn’t put any sort of floral into my style wheelhouse.

Most florals are too frilly, colorful and quite frankly, not me. However, over the years I’ve learned that when it comes to personal style, never say never. Tastes change, bodies change and most importantly, fashion changes… A LOT.

What I’m Wearing:

Rebecca Taylor Dress (old style; THIS is similar) // IRO Blazer (no longer available; THIS is almost identical + under $80!) // Givenchy Shoes (no longer available; Love THESE!) // Prada Clutch (old style; THIS is similar)

When I spotted this moody floral midi dress late last spring, I was instantly drawn to the monochromatic floral pattern. It was a departure for me — basically, any pattern is a departure for me! — but I couldn’t resist the floaty, chiffon layers and easy silhouette.

So, I tried it on.

Then, I bought it.

Moral of my story?

Try something different. Experiment. Don’t be afraid to venture outside of your comfort zone. You just might pleasantly surprise yourself and discover a new favorite. I did.
