Have you guys been keeping up with NYFW?
I can’t get enough!!!
I’ve been streaming the live shows and following my favorite brands to see what Spring 2017 has in store. In case you’re curious, here’s a little of what you can expect:
• Lots of pale teal
• Lots of loose silhouettes and modern florals (ZIMMERMAN + CREATURES OF COMFORT were fantastic!)
• The return of khaki a la J CREW (yes, khaki)
• More unique cut outs, off-the-shoulder necklines and ruffles as seen at SELF PORTRAIT
But, alas, I am getting ahead of myself…
You see, we are just entering Fall 2016 so rather than get all carried away about what Spring 2017 has in store, let’s step back and focus on the here and now. THIS season, we’ve spent some time covering the major fall style trends, but now it’s time to talk Fall 2016 makeup trends!
I recently spent a morning shooting some of this season’s strongest makeup looks with the help of Kelly Miron from THE POWDER ROOM. Kelly is not one to live and die by trends, so when she came to me with this idea, I knew her selections would be flattering and pretty. Looks that we would love not only this season, but for many seasons to come!
When NINA RICCI showed last February for Fall 2016, the beauty focus was all about peach tones being incorporated throughout the face, especially the eye area. The idea behind this style was showing the public that typical Spring tones can be pulled out of the season and successfully showcased in the Fall. The result is natural, sophisticated and romantic and a great compliment to some of Fall’s more dramatic looks.
These peach hues around the eye can last all day by applying ELLIS FAAS Creamy Eye in E129, layered with DIEGO DALLA PALMA Eyeshadow #103 in Golden Apricot, and then polishing off the whole look with a little dusting of FACE ATELIER Shimmer in Soft Bronze.
The end result —
This look is definitely not new to the scene, but a classic nevertheless! The MOSCHINO FALL 2016 runway beauty was all about black eyeliner. Whether you add a small black flick, a waterlined eye, or a soft, smokey smudge, this beauty trend is all about saturated, black color. A bit mysterious and a bit rock-and-roll — don’t be afraid to test this dramatic look with some of your edgier fashion.
The smokey eye can be recreated by first prepping with VERTERE® Eye Concentrate on your under eye area, followed by FACE ATELIER Eyeshadow in Carbon, and finally perfecting the look with a swipe of GIRLACTIK Precise Eyeliner Marker in Black Noir. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire, so set your eyes to smolder and watch sparks begin to fly!
If you’re like me and have an aversion to contouring, this is a beauty look you need to try. Rather than change the shape of your face, this makeup enhances the features you do have in a subtle and natural way. As shown on the RALPH LAUREN FALL 2016 RUNWAY, this look represents the anti-contour simplicity of a natural glow. Great skincare is the way to nail this look!
Begin with LUXE SPF30 Tinted Primer in Light to even out and smooth your complexion. Next, accent your cheeks with ELLIS FAAS Blush in S302, and then finish off your look with BLINC Mascara Amplified in Black Noir. This is a great way to shift from your summer shine to a more subtle glow for the fall.
All of these products, as well as in-person makeup tutorials are available at THE POWDER ROOM. If you’re local to the NE Ohio area, I can’t recommend the products and skincare services enough! If you’re from out of town, don’t hesitate to reach out to Kelly and her team via e-mail (email@example.com) or phone (216-831-7666).
