Beach or City

beach or city style

Yesterday, my post on INSTAGRAM (side note: are you following me yet!?) had me thinking and got some good discussion going about something very important:

Are you a beach or city person?

As my post stated, I think I’m pretty much an even split. I love the restorative properties of the beach/ocean, but I thrive on the energy of the city. I don’t think I could ever give up one for the other. Honestly, I don’t think the majority of us could.

Just like my state of mind shifts based on my location, so does my sense of style. I’d like to think my love of edgy, minimalist and monochrome design was influenced in part by my time in New York City. However, the more casual, dare-I-say, slightly bohemian in me is all the Long Beach influence of my upbringing. It’s amazing how big of a role geography plays in how we express ourselves through style!

One thing I especially love about the relaxed beach babe style is the pricing! It doesn’t take a lot of $$$ to score this look. Aside from the CHLOE HUDSON SHOULDER BAG, all of these pieces are well under $100.

The city wardrobe is obviously the more streamlined of the two and chock full of mix and match separates that an be carried into upcoming seasons. My opinion is that city style is a bit less trend driven and more about quality. Although you might end up spending a bit more, you’ll get a ton more wear about these classic styles.

So where do you fall on the spectrum: are you city or beach?
