The Best Black Pants

If you ask any woman, “What’s the most important piece of clothing in your wardrobe?”, there is a a pretty solid chance her answer will be black pants.

This very scientifically gathered survey information is the result of 4 years of deep digging in the trenches of women’s closets across the greater NYC and Cleveland regions.

Aside from a favorite pair of jeans, black pants are a ride-or-die piece of clothing that anchors the rest of our wardrobe. From long days at work, to wild nights out, where would we be without our butt-lifting, thigh slimming, pair of black pants!?

Now, finding the BEST black pants… therein lies the challenge!

As a stylist, I make product recommendations to my clients on a daily basis based on their specific body type, needs, lifestyle and budget. One recommendation that I never hesitate to throw out there is my favorite pair of black pants — the BANANA REPUBLIC SLOAN.

What I’m Wearing:

Top (a STEAL at $25!)// Pants // Shoes // Bag (currently on sale and under $85!) // Earrings

These long and lean babies never fail me.

The fit is always on point, the price tag even better…

This one pair of pants is seasonless, timeless and a welcome addition to any wardrobe. Even DEFINITELY my own.

Now, let’s talk sizing.

I think BANANA REPUBLIC runs a titch large — is titch even a real word?! I’d recommend trying your true, go-to size and perhaps, a size down. In these images, I’m wearing a LONG to accommodate a 34″ inseam. As you can see, the SLOAN is fitted, but not painted on. If you’re more into the “legging” look- definitely size down. I personally prefer a fitted, body hugging fit — but not too tight.  If you’re also planning on wearing these pants to the office, perhaps skin tight is not the appropriate choice.

Hey, we all make choices! Some “better” than others. A peek at some of my early 2000’s outfits will confirm that fact.
