One of this season’s biggest NYFW trends comes to us from a place other than the runway — the street.
If you’ve been coming here for a while, you know that I take much of my inspiration from street style fashion. Rather than focus on more editorial and unrealistic model goals, I prefer to see how real people interpret the runway trends and wear them in real life and on real bodies. One of these trends spotted on repeat has been the menswear-inspired plaid blazer.
While solid colored blazers are nothing new (they’re practically a year-round staple at this point!), this new adventure into plaid territory definitely caught my eye. Actually, my wallet too — I bought THIS ONE a few weeks ago.
If you’re wondering if this is a style you can incorporate into your daily wardrobe — wonder no more. I’ve put together a collection of 3-ways to wear your new blazer from office-ready, to date- night sophisticated.
Just take a look below…
This day-to-night outfit is as easy as 1-2-3. Top your feminine SLIP DRESS or SHEATH with your more masculine-inspired PLAID BLAZER for a simple and comfortable style to wear this fall. Add this season’s most buzzed about SOCK BOOTS to complete the look. Wear the blazer during the day for coverage and warmth, and slip it off to expose a much more nighttime-ready outfit.

How’s this for chic? Throw on your plaid blazer over your favorite STRAIGHT LEG ANKLE LENGTH JEANS and SOFT T-SHIRT to give a basic outfit some personality. Now, add a pair of comfortable slip on loafers or heels to give it some edge! If you’re looking for a new office look, just swap out the jeans for a pair of slim, black pants — the BANANA REPUBLIC SLOAN PANTS are my absolute favorite!
Although you may be hesitant to wear plaid head-to-toe, I’m going to share with you 2 tips to prevent pattern overload! First, stay away from bold, bright colors — in this case, black, white or any other variation of a neutral should be your go-to choice. Next, select a plaid pattern that is small scale. From a distance, it should simply appear solid.
Now, here are some of my favorite plaid blazers for you shop!
