The 5 Piece Outerwear Wardrobe Every Woman Needs

The 5 piece outerwear wardrobe header

Wednesday, already?!

Man, this week is rockin’ and rollin. I can’t thank you all enough for your kind words and encouraging comments on the new house and renovation — especially THE KITCHEN! I’ll be sharing more room-by-room renovation details over the new few weeks and hope you’ll help with some of the design choices — next up: the kids’/guest bathroom!

In the meantime, let’s talk a bit of seasonal fashion — namely, outerwear.

In preparation for our big move, I’ve started paring down my closets for moving/storage. Since we’ll be in temporary housing for a few weeks, it made me really consider what I needed to keep me comfortable and put together between now and the holidays.

Upon further inspection of my coat closet, I realized it all came down to a 5 piece outerwear wardrobe. Definitely a helpful guideline to keep in mind for ANY woman — space challenged or not!

Wool Coat // Down Jacket // Denim Jacket // Leather Jacket // Trench Coat

Wool Coat

A wool coat is polished and professional and can give all of your weekend wear a dose of chic. Select a neutral go-with-everything color in order to make the most of this outerwear piece.

Down Jacket

A down jacket is a lightweight solution to keep you warm and cozy even during the most bone-chilling of winter days. Technology and fashion come together to create a jacket that is not only fashionable, but in many cases, packable as well!

Denim Jacket

The denim jacket is a year-round wardrobe workhorse. Wear it as outerwear in the fall, then layer it UNDER your favorite winter coats/jackets for that added layer of warmth AND style.

Leather Jacket

Over the years, I’ve built quite the collection of leather motorcycle jackets. However, no matter how many moto jackets I acquire, black will always be my favorite.

Anorak/Trench Coat

This outerwear style will be determined by your lifestyle. Are you a more casual work-from-home kind of gal, or do you head to the office on the regular? If you’re more casual, an anorak is for you.  If you’re more formal, definitely consider a trench instead — it will be far more useful for your work-appropriate looks!
