After a few cocktails, the topic turned to bedtime routines and more specifically, sleepwear. As in — do you wear any?! As we went around the table, it was surprising (and hysterical) to hear what women actually slept in. More importantly, it was interesting to hear their WHYS.
Personally, I’m a soft t-shirt worn alone, or with pajama shorts/pants kind of gal. I put my sleepwear on over bare skin for maximum comfort.
(Yes, Mom… I know, I know. You have to let your skin breeeeaaaaathe!)
Interestingly, the women’s answers covered the gamut of sleepwear options — ranging from nothing at all, to full body armor in the form of flannel and sweatpants. While our choices differed drastically, we all had one thing in common: the quest for the comfortable and attractive PJ’s. Something that looked and felt great, yet was appropriate for the occasional public (children, UPS guy, house guests, etc.) viewing.
It got me thinking that while lacy and sexy underthings are beautiful to look at, they’re not always the most practical to wear in real life. However, that doesn’t mean we need to sacrifice our appearance for comfort. There are a number of pretty AND comfy sleepwear options out there for all of us. With the holidays coming up, it’s also a great time to treat a girlfriend or family member with the gift of great sleepwear. It’s a thoughtful gift that people are less likely to splurge on for themselves, so it’s all the more appreciated!
Here are some of my favorite sleepwear picks that would make any type of woman happy!
