Building a functional wardrobe that you love is a game of balance.
It’s all about maintaining a good ratio of trend to classic, high end designer to fast fashion styles. When this delicate ratio goes off kilter, you’ll find that you’re stuck in a wardrobe rut with nothing to wear — ahem… ahem… we touched on that a little LAST WEEK.
This Spring season, I decided that my fashion goal would be to save enough money to splurge on a designer waist belt. It’s hard to afford all of the pretty things — no matter what your budget! — so I find it helpful to set a goal for myself (and my clients) and work towards that special piece or accessory. When it finally comes time to make the splurge, it’s so fulfilling and lacking any of that guilt you may otherwise experience when you treat yourself.
A waist belt is something that I’ve always loved as a styling tool. It freshens up older styles in your closet, gives go-to outfits new life and best of all, accentuates the smallest part of most women’s bodies.
Yaaaaaaaasss, to the hour-glass silhouette!
So what do I have my eye on!? Actually, I’m torn — and maybe you can help me decide.
I’ve narrowed down the hunt to three contenders:
Truly a classic. I’ve been slowly collecting HERMES accessories over the years from the ENAMEL BANGLES to their SILK SCARVES. Each piece is a work of art and something I hope to pass down to my daughter one day. Their BELTS are simple, chic and easy to wear — most being reversible to a second color. Bonus!
I adore CHLOE ring styles — I have the FAYE BAG in my collection — and THIS BELT is a similar look. What I love most about this particular style is that it’s logo free and not as in your face designer as the other two. It’s low key… which is nice.
This might be the trendiest out of the bunch! GUCCI has made a huge come back over the past 3 years — particularly with their LEATHER ACCESSORIES. The GG-LOGO BELT is definitely of the “more-is-more” fashion camp, which is totally not like me — so, why do I love it so much!? Apparently, I’m not the only one because these belts have been flying out of stores. Just a few months ago I stopped into SAKS FIFTH AVE when I was in NYC and they were down to their last one. Unfortunately, it was too large or I probably would have purchased it then and there.
