Can you believe it’s Friday Link Love time already?!
This was recital week for my 6 year old and after what seems like a prolonged Ground Hog Day experience, it’s nice to wake up to a Friday! Last night was the final performance and we couldn’t be more proud of how our little girl rocked her dances. Dancing aside, the joy we witnessed as she came off the stage was enough to convince me that my dance mom days are far from over. Although, I can’t lie: I’m beyond thankful I have 2 months to recover before all that starts up again!
While I slowly sip my coffee and enjoy the quiet of my house, here are this week’s Link Love reads to get YOUR weekend started right!
I know this post may be contrary to everything you’ve ever known and loved about summer fashion, but you need to know: summer neutrals are where it’s at.
Yes, bright colors and bold patterns are more typical of summer style, but hear me out here. Summer neutrals can become a beautiful way to embrace the heat and take a more understated approach to this season’s fashion. These 5 pieces can also be easily mixed-and-matched into a closet full of brights, as well as with each other.
When planning this year’s NYC/East Coast visit, we were looking for a family-friendly destination that was driving distance from NYC and offered enough activities and luxury amenities to keep everyone (including a picky 6 + 8 yo) satisfied. Enter Newport, RI! With its close proximity to NYC (3.5 hrs) and its idyllic New England charm full of scenic cliff walks, oyster shacks and colorful sail boats, this seaside city was the perfect solution.
I’ll be putting together a full Newport, RI travel guide for you later this summer, but in the meantime I want to focus on what I’ll be bringing along with me. Newport is a balance of old-world, “blue-blood” New England and modern, laid back beach town — just like the outfits I’ll be wearing!
This week has been a scorcher! The highlight of my week was the official start of summer camp — a.k.a a parent’s summer savior. I drop them off in the morning and at the end of the day I get happy, sweaty and exhausted kids. Just the way I like them. They’re also wild, ravenous beasts. I can’t keep up with their appetites! They literally eat non-stop between the hours of 4:30-8pm and don’t even think about making them wait even a minute. You might lose an appendage. Ah, to be young again with a burning metabolism. Must be nice!
Now, for the good stuff! Let’s get to this week’s edition of Friday Link Love!
While these last few weeks have flown by, I’ve felt a little discombobulated to be honest.
Settling into new routines has always proven to be a challenge for this type-A lady, who thrives on a regimented schedule. While I’ve been slowly making the shift to a less-structured “Summer-time Stella,” I’ve also been making mental notes (and i-phone notes — thank goodness for that app!) about products, brands and styles that have been catching my eye. On their own, they might not be meaty enough for a dedicated post, but when combined you can easily see why they’re worthy of discussion.
This most recent edition of “On My Radar” is all about summer time fun!
Father’s Day is this Sunday and I’ve been working hard to put together a unique gift guide for those of you who like to keep it exciting and perhaps wait until the last minute to score that gift for dad. Dad’s are especially tough to buy for. With this Father’s Day gift guide, I promise you that THIS year you’ll be cruising into the big day stress-free, nary a cliché Father’s Day tie in sight.
What is it about that special scent you find in luxury hotels around the world?
You know the one.
The one that all of your clothes smell like as soon as you open your suitcase to unpack. It’s the same one you get a random whiff of and automatically get transported back to the time and place where you first encountered it. Right now, the sophisticated scent du jour is courtesy of THE SCHOFIELD, the latest Kimpton boutique hotel to open in downtown Cleveland.
