Not the typical alcohol-induced hangover type (although I won’t judge if you do!), but more the OMG-I-can’t-focus-or-do-anything-productive hangover. Both are equally terrible. A steady diet of buttered bagels, diet orange Sunkist soda and Aleve may fix the former. As for the latter, I’ve got a way better (and less caloric) solution — a crisp white shirt.
There is something totally zen about perusing the aisles of a drugstore. I could literally spend hours walking up and down those aisles inspecting the latest and greatest in beauty products.
Back in the day, it was my local, NYC 9th Avenue Duane Reade. These days, I’m more of a WALGREENS girl. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the TARGET beauty department! All these assorted drugstore beauty destinations have worked diligently to clear my head (and my occasional hormonal breakouts) and stock my bathroom with an arsenal of effective beauty products that could rival any high-end luxury brand.
There is nothing like a good street mural to get me excited about heading outdoors again.
As I might have mentioned over the past few years, Cleveland can be challenging when it comes to styling and physically shooting outdoors 60% of the year. The rain, sleet, snow, grey skies and sub-zero temperatures are far from inspiring. Needless to say, the moment Spring rolls around Cleveland slowly reawakens, it’s always a fun surprise to see how much has changed in the neighborhood.
It’s full of unexpected twists and turns with new surprises around every bend. You birth this tiny human with absolutely no clue what kind of person he/she will turn out to be. You then have the ultimate responsibility of helping to shape their story and play a supporting role. It’s like a Choose Your Own Adventure book, but you know, actually REAL and with no alternative endings!
The first few days back after an extended vacation are always the hardest. It feels like you’re doing things for the first time and that routine you had in place for MONTHS?!?! Yeah, forget about that. You’re starting from scratch, babe. At least I did. That 5:30 am alarm has been painful!
While all of this clearly sucks (to be blunt), the good news is that it’s Friday and we have an entire weekend ahead of us. I’ve got a few outfit shoots, some soccer games and a few family birthday celebrations to attend to. Maybe, just maybe I’ll finally get around to putting away those clean and folded vacation clothes. I know, my life is just full of crazy and spontaneous fun.
To help get the fun juices flowing why wait until Happy Hour?! Start with these Friday Link Love reads, instead.
Mother’s Day is just over 2 weeks away (May 14th)… You know, in case you were wondering.
As a mom myself, I think I just may be able to offer some valuable insights into unique gift ideas that any mom would love to receive. I’ve compiled a Mother’s Day Gift Guide (a.k.a. my own personal wish list) to help get you started and on your way to scoring mom the best Mother’s Day gift yet!
The sun is shining, birds are chirping and it’s finally warm enough to ditch the jackets.
Better yet, it’s time to break out all of those Spring dresses that have been gathering dust in the back of our closet. Even this self-professed NON-girly-girl is excited to trade in my jeans and sweaters for some feminine and flirty frocks.
