Members of my immediate and extended family are dropping like flies and unfortunately I’m not immune. After a week of battling an annoying cold/laryngitis, I came down with a fever yesterday afternoon and am now patiently waiting to get in to see the doctor. Now, the kicker — my daughter woke up with the stomach bug that’s been going around, so she’s home sick, too.
Isn’t winter cold + flu season that absolute WORST!?
It was always a means to an end. Something you had to slog through in order to get the results (healthy mind + body) that you want. In the rare instance I would find a workout I didn’t despise (spinning/running), it would become my long-term de-facto exercise.
There is no better way to start your week than with the friendly faces and kind words of TSA employees.
Yeah, not so much.
Thankfully, I am now through the gates of JFK Airport security (Hell’s annex), settled into the lounge and enjoying a few minutes of uninterrupted free WiFi before boarding my flight back to Cleveland. My NYC visit was short and very sweet, as we got to celebrate my future sister-in-law at a bridal shower that my mom and I hosted. In addition to the ridiculously delicious pasta at L’ARTUSI, the true VIP of this weekend was definitely IT COSMETICS SUPERHERO LINER.
A recent MARIE KONDO-STYLE decluttering episode had me evaluating all of my beauty products acquired over time. No matter how minimalist your beauty regimen, why is it that the products seem to multiply!? As I was purging assorted products, one of the things I noticed was that over that past 15 years, I’ve really only worn 3 scents: NARCISO RODRIGUEZ FOR HER, LE LABO THÉ NOIR 29, and BYREDO GYPSY WATER.
All 3 are best described as “earthier,” more-unisex scents with notes of sandalwood, vanilla and juniper. I know, not for everyone. However, they’re very much “me” and isn’t that what a signature scent is supposed to be?
Good Morning! I’m taking a quick break from unpacking to get back into my regular posting schedule. Vacation was so awesome, but there’s just something about the comforts of home — especially once the annoying unpacking is done!
As I was putting away some toiletries this morning I realized that I haven’t given you guys a summer beauty update yet this season. I try to switch up my routine 3-4 times a year to account for changes in weather and lifestyle. Coincidentally, most skincare products only last me 3 months at most, so the timing of this beauty switcheroo is also ideal for replacing or replenishing empties! This season, I finally had an opportunity to try out a newer brand called THE ORDINARY.
There is something totally zen about perusing the aisles of a drugstore. I could literally spend hours walking up and down those aisles inspecting the latest and greatest in beauty products.
Back in the day, it was my local, NYC 9th Avenue Duane Reade. These days, I’m more of a WALGREENS girl. Oh, and don’t even get me started on the TARGET beauty department! All these assorted drugstore beauty destinations have worked diligently to clear my head (and my occasional hormonal breakouts) and stock my bathroom with an arsenal of effective beauty products that could rival any high-end luxury brand.
Since launching The Heart’s Delight almost 4 years ago, I’ve tried more beauty and makeup products than I can count. Some of have been good, some have been, well, not so good.
While I’m not a beauty professional by any means, trying out all of these products has forced me to learn some of the ins-and-outs of the beauty world, figure out what actually works and most importantly learn how to use it correctly! Luckily, I’ve met some very bright and talented people along the way who can help me navigate this process.
While it’s fun to get glam every once in a while, 98% of my existence is spent in a relatively casual state either with no makeup on at all, or with just enough to not scare the small children in the neighborhood.
I kid, I kid.
Seriously, though… I would describe my daily makeup look as a “no-makeup makeup.” I definitely did NOT wake up like this, but with a few strategic products and some helpful tips from the folks over at NORDSTROM, I’d like to think I #nailedit?!
