This one was a pretty fun and hectic mix of house related finishing and kids’ stuff (hello, Valentine’s Day!). Obviously, the main house renovation is completed, we’re moved in and settled. Now, I’m all focused on making this house a home and bringing those preliminary interior design plans to life — you can check a few of them out HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE! Not only does it feel great to get rooms checked off my to-do list, but I also have a list of wonderful brands and partners that I work with who have been patiently waiting for the finished deliverables. You see, with my business and blog sometimes personal projects and business projects collide into one big happy, lovely mess — my own heart’s delight.
Do I wish I could slowly decorate the house over time and ease into major design decisions!? YES. Big time. Do I have the luxury to do this? Not really. With a professional interior photoshoot only 2 weeks away, I’m in turbo-decorating mode sourcing the last few pieces and giving our home the finishing touches it needs to truly feel like us: casual, modern and warm. Boy, do I have a lot of work to do… but it’s not work when you’re doing what you love, right? I’ll keep telling myself that as I make my 15th run to HomeGoods.
For now, let’s take a moment to ourselves, sip our hot beverages and dig into this week’s Friday Link Love reads!
Between the big move and my husband traveling out of the country for work, the last few weeks have been a hodge podge of scheduling to get us unpacked and settled and get my kids where they need to be. Clearly something had to give… and unfortunately that something was my workout regimen.
This week I made a commitment to carve out one hour a day for myself. To be honest it’s not something I was exactly looking forward to, but I knew I had to do it in order to feel better and be better. Needless to say, I made it through the spin class and I walked out feeling like a new person. Why am I telling you this? Well, take this with a grain of salt, but I find that the physical act of setting goals and meeting them give me a sense of accomplishment and confidence. I feel good, albeit sore. So, let’s take the weekend and create some awesome goals — no matter how big or small. We may just surprise ourselves with all of the awesome things we can accomplish.
As for now!? Get inspired with this week’s Friday Link Love round up!
Was it just me, or did January feel as though it was never-ending?
It’s hard to believe all of those New Year’s Eve celebrations were only a month ago! It’s pretty crazy when you sit down and think about it. In my own life, so much has changed since that ball dropped. In a good way, of course! I’m finally starting to feel settled into the new house and we’re getting our new routines in place. I’ve been sharing little snippets of our rooms and decor on INSTAGRAM, but as you know, photos are pretty deceiving as there is still a ton of work to do to get the house decorated and us feeling fully “moved in.”
There are still many (SO many) cardboard boxes to break down… ugh… those boxes!
In addition to garbage management, I’ve got a few more fun things on my weekend agenda beginning with this week’s Friday Link Love reads. Hope you enjoy!
I think I may be been more excited today than a kid on Christmas morning.
Our final house walk through is this afternoon and I’m still in shock that our renovation project is coming to an end right on schedule. Errrrrrrr, on budget — not so much. Actually, it’s a mix of shock, relief and pure joy. Most of all, I’m tired, y’all. Good thing I have a giant sectional couch being delivered today.
You might need to peel my a** off of it later.
Just make sure to read this week’s Friday Link Love roundup before you swing by! Oh, and don’t forget to bring some wine. Actually, A LOT of wine.
That’s what this Cleveland winter is shaping up to be. After 2 weeks of brutal cold, we got to experience a brief flirtation with reasonable (above freezing) winter temperatures only to have our hearts (and heating bills) crushed with another snow storm/deep freeze on the way.
Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, right?
Gotta love life on the lake.
Whether you’re in the Midwest, East Coast or anywhere else in the world, I hope you have a fun weekend planned. TGIF, folks. Start it off with these Friday Link Love favorites!
Good Morning, this frigid first Friday of January!
To my Easy Coast friends, I hope you’re staying safe and warm — that “Bomb Cyclone” is straight up ridiculous and scary. To my Cleveland friends — hang in there. Relief in the form of a double digit temperature day is only 48 more hours away. To everyone else — isn’t Winter absolutely glorious!?
Yeah, not really. I’m totally over it and it’s only mid-January.
So here are my Friday Link Love gems of the week — collected while huddled in multiple layers of sweaters and under assorted blankets. This morning, grab yourself a hot steaming cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa (pick your poison), and let’s get reading!
In a year bursting at the seams with social, political and personal highs and lows, I’m hoping that 2018 is just slightly more tame. This girl is straight up beat. With about 3 weeks left to go before our full renovation is complete, you can also imagine how eager I am to get this 2018 show on the road — in our new home!
So, in the spirit of the upcoming New Year, today’s Friday Link Love round up is all about fresh starts, clean slates, celebrating the New Year and few good shopping finds thrown in for good measure. Let’s get to it!
Can you believe we’re heading into the last week of the year!?
Hopefully, we’re all coming out of 2017 another year older and possibly a little wiser. Maybe?!
This year has definitely been one for the books — buying a house, selling a house, moving, renovating, growing a business and generally trying to keep our heads above the strong rip tides of life. If I’ve learned anything through this whole process, it’s to stay focused on your goals and take one step at time in order to reach them. Everything becomes so much more manageable when you break it down — even some of life’s most stressful events. It also helps to have friends and family cheering, supporting and encouraging you along the sidelines. Thank you for that. Thank you for every view, click, comment and question. It honestly makes me so happy and proud to see my little blog flourish into what’s become a virtual village.
It takes a village, right? Well, you’re always welcome in mine.
Enjoy this week’s Friday Link Love finds and make sure to take a moment to appreciate what YOU have accomplished this year. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
The last few weeks before the holidays always speed by in a blur of happy hours, parties, dinners and concerts. Last night was my son’s holiday band concert and he was beyond excited to show off his percussion skills! Yes, he’s an actual little drummer boy. Little known fact about me — I took 12 years of piano lessons as a kid/teen and would love for my child(ren) to pick up a musical instrument. I was feeling nostalgic this week and looked into professionally transporting my childhood piano from my parent’s home in NY to our new home in Cleveland. It costs a small fortune. At this point, it’s a grudge match between practical Stella and sentimental Stella.
I’ll let you know who wins.
As for now, let’s indulge in a little Friday Link Love reading!
One visit to urgent care, a strep diagnosis and a prescription of antibiotics (all hail to the Z-PACK!) later, I finally feel like myself! Just in time, too… This evening, Mr. THD and I are headed for an overnight with friends toGERVASI VINEYARDfor what’s hopefully a night of lots of wine drinking, good food and laughs… and wine drinking. Did I mention that? It will be a nice break away from all of the holiday and renovation craziness.
Now, let’s get our weekend off to a good start with this week’s Friday Link Love roundup!
