Have you ever had one of those weird limbo weeks where you’re waiting on so many pieces and things to fall into place? Yeah, that would best describe the past 7 days. Between work life and family life, there’s been a lot of risk taking and pushing into unknown territory which is both exciting and extremely uncomfortable for me at the same time. As things sort themselves out (which they always do!) I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about it. In the meantime, I’m just trying to tackle one piece at a time and not get overwhelmed. Hey, I’m a Libra. I like my balance.
I also like some entertaining internet reads, which I’ve got right this way! This Friday Link Love is a good one — make sure to check it out.
As expected, the first week back to post-vacation reality is always a doozy. Between an endless game of work catchup and trying to get everyone back into their regular routines, I’m all tapped out. Needless to say, I’m very excited that the weekend is finally here. As it turns out, this weekend happens to be a pretty special one: I’m celebrating my 11 year wedding anniversary. Big shout out to Mr. Heart’s Delight! Another year bites the dust and I couldn’t be a luckier gal to have him by my side through it all. This is probably the only time in my life you’ll see me use #blessednon-ironically! Cliché, but 100% the truth.
So, that’s the latest and greatest…
Now, onto this week’s latest and greatest Friday Link Love reads!
Good Morning! I’m sending you a big time TGIF from New York!
Was it just me or was this the strangest week ever? After the Tuesday, July 4th holiday I completely lost track of what day of the week it was. This Wednesday was perhaps the most Monday-est Wednesday ever. Don’t worry though, I still managed to “get through it” — the perks of being on vacation! I spent my Wednesday wandering around Tribeca and my old neighborhood in the far West Village, ate lunch at a favorite — BUBBY’S, finally got to see “Hamilton – The Musical” and wrapped up the night with dinner and cocktails at LITTLE PARK. I was also in bed by 10:30pm and got to sleep in the next morning before a SOUL CYCLE class. Not too shabby, right?
I even managed to squeeze in some good internet research to bring you this week’s edition of Friday Link Love!
What’s better than a summer Friday? A summer Friday before a holiday weekend!
I’ve been packing up a storm as we leave for our annual East Coast trip later this weekend. I’m super excited to spend some time in NY and with my family and friends, but there is always so much to do before any extended getaway. In the grand scheme of things, I think not such a bad “problem” to have. July 4th weekend is always the peak of summer fun and I plan to make the most of it — so should you!
Can you believe it’s Friday Link Love time already?!
This was recital week for my 6 year old and after what seems like a prolonged Ground Hog Day experience, it’s nice to wake up to a Friday! Last night was the final performance and we couldn’t be more proud of how our little girl rocked her dances. Dancing aside, the joy we witnessed as she came off the stage was enough to convince me that my dance mom days are far from over. Although, I can’t lie: I’m beyond thankful I have 2 months to recover before all that starts up again!
While I slowly sip my coffee and enjoy the quiet of my house, here are this week’s Link Love reads to get YOUR weekend started right!
This week has been a scorcher! The highlight of my week was the official start of summer camp — a.k.a a parent’s summer savior. I drop them off in the morning and at the end of the day I get happy, sweaty and exhausted kids. Just the way I like them. They’re also wild, ravenous beasts. I can’t keep up with their appetites! They literally eat non-stop between the hours of 4:30-8pm and don’t even think about making them wait even a minute. You might lose an appendage. Ah, to be young again with a burning metabolism. Must be nice!
Now, for the good stuff! Let’s get to this week’s edition of Friday Link Love!
Excuse me while I leisurely sip my iced coffee — I’m on summer vacation!
My kids wrapped up school this week and I gotta tell you, as a parent I literally crawled over the finish line. That last push at the very end was rough. I felt like their uniforms looked — tired and ratchet. But hey, that’s in the past. Now we look ahead to summer travel, assorted camps and morning wake ups when it actually looks like morning vs. dead of night. It’s a happy day in Cleveland.
Now, let’s get to this week’s edition of Friday Link Love — it’s a goodie.
Welcome to the first Friday Link Love of June 2017!
It’s been a pretty gorgeous week in Cleveland — albeit busy. I’m finally wrapping up the last of my spring styling clients and finishing up my last major brand collaboration this weekend — more of that to come next week! I’m ready to kick back a little and enjoy the sunshine.
How are you doin’ over there? Still with me this morning?
My Friday has not quite started off on the right foot, so I’m resetting and attempting a do-over. To make a long story short, I was trying to help the kids get ready for school and absolutely no one was listening to me. Pretty infuriating, I know. I was “this close” to throwing out the classic parenting line — “Do you know how much I do for you!?” and instead decided to walk away from the situation.
Eventually, everyone got their sh*t together, but it left me with a bad taste — if you know what I mean. Rather than stew in my frustration, I am making the decision to stop overanalyzing (What could I have done differently? Am I a bad parent? Why don’t my kids respect me?!) and let it go. In the grand scheme of parenting, I’m usually a moderately decent parent (like, 80% of the time) and they’re usually really good kids… and in this case, it’s OK to be good enough.
Good thing I have a 3-day weekend and this week’s Friday Link Love to quickly distract me from all of this mayhem!
I’m heading sprinting into this Friday, Usain Bolt style. Hooray for the weekend!
I keep reminding myself that I have 2 more weeks. Only 2 more weeks to plow through until my kids wrap up the school year, my client appointments start to ease up and the last of my event styling wraps up for the season. Usually, when I have this much going on I toss and turn at night and can’t seem to settle my mind enough to get any sleep. This time, my body and brain are so physically exhausted I literally collapse into bed at the end of the day and don’t wake up (or even roll over!) until my alarm goes off in the morning.
By the way, you need to set all of your alarms to the iPhone “chimes” setting. It’s the softest, most non-jarring alarm sound that I’ve found. I consider this a small life victory.
Now that we got that all out of the way, let’s get down to important business — Friday Link Love!
