One day, I wake up and it’s close to 70 degrees, birds are chirping and tulips are starting to poke through the ground. Today, I wake up and there is 2+ inches of snow on the ground with a high of 29 degrees. Last week, I thought I packed away all of cold weather gear and accessories for good — I guess I should have known better! Good thing I’m obsessed with my DANNER BOOTS — at least I have another opportunity to break them out.
I’m pleased to report that aside from the fact that we are mere hours away from the weekend, the sinus infection from hell that has plagued me for 2 weeks has finally been reigned in. All it took was 2 trips to the doctor, a dose of antibiotics, a dose of steroids, daily anti-inflammatories, a humidifier and about 1,000 tissues. Man, I don’t get sick that often, but when I do — I go down HARD. This is precisely the time of year when the stress of frigid, dry weather, and close indoor quarters start to take their toll.
My point?! Take care of yourselves, people and WASH YOUR HANDS!
Now, onto happier, healthier thoughts — this week’s assortment of Friday Link Love reads!
Overall, the best way to categorize this week was weird and unexpected. From an unexpected snow day on Monday, to an unexpected bout of sinusitis and a whole lot of political drama and turmoil, it’s definitely been a go-with-the-flow kind of last few days. My reward? A quick 36-hour kid-free getaway with my husband. You’ll just have to follow along on INSTAGRAM + TWITTER to see where we’re up to!
If you’re in need of a mental break as much as I am, why not start with these Friday Link Love best reads of the week?
I’ve spend the last few days struggling with knee pain and a really tight IT band — it’s the ligament that runs up the side of your leg from hip to ankle. I tweaked it ice skating with my kids and it’s been getting progressively more annoying ever since. I finally bit the bullet and took a break on all of my spinning and higher impact cardio this week in hopes that resting it, foam rolling it and treating it with Aleve would do the trick. I also added in a few hot yoga classes to help loosen things up and stretch out the kinks.
Lord knows, I could use more ‘Om’ in my life.
Mayday, Mayday…. we’ve been hit!!!
After being spared from that nasty virus that’s been making the rounds since before the holidays, we’re now ankle deep in Clorox wipes here at Casa Heart’s Delight. My little one woke up this morning at 4:20am and it’s been a touch and go situation ever since. Actually, I’m trying to touch as little as possible! I’m currently writing this post at the foot of her bed (she didn’t want to be left alone), dousing myself with hand sanitizer. It’s going to be a LONG day.
Can you believe we’re finally in the last stretch of 2016?!
The year was definitely one full of highs and lows, with some surprising twists in between. The best part? In matter of days, we get to put it all behind us and start fresh. Whatever your goals may be (I hate the concept of “resolutions”), you get 365 days to make things happen. Things don’t necessarily work out the way they’re supposed to, but honestly, that’s the best part.
