This Season’s Best Spring Dresses

Well, what do you know?! It’s May!

The season of weddings, cocktail parties, benefits, graduations, etc. is officially upon us. I like to refer to the next 2 months as the “Season Of The Dress!” — or the season of one too many glasses of rosé!

With so many spring dresses out there, I know it can be an overwhelming project to narrow down the selection and get focused. To make your life a bit easier, I’ve put together a collection of some of my favorite styles — some long, some short, some floral, some graphic — to help every woman find her best spring dress!

Want to know my favorite?

I honestly adore them all, but I’ve had a recent love affair with the brand, SELF PORTRAIT (#14!). Although, not the least expensive of the bunch, the SELF PORTRAIT PEPLUM DRESS is so stunning and unique — definitely a stand out.

Here’s a tip: If you like that cut out lace-work look, but not the price, the marigold H&M MIDI DRESS might be right up your alley! It’s a fraction of the price and the color is oh-so-stunning on tanned skin.

One of the spring dresses I can’t help but love is the NEEDLE & THREAD COPPELIA BALLET DRESS (#4). It’s way more girly than my typical style, but it has such an elegant refined look that would be perfect for a summer wedding! The price tag is also fantastic for a dress with detailed embellishments and a great fit — winner, winner.

Which spring dress is YOUR favorite?

January Wish List

January 2016 Wish List Header

Another day, another inch of snow (or 3?) here in Cleveland.

This is perhaps the most depressing time of year — the holiday joy is long gone, the grey skies have set in and we’re lucky if the thermometer breaks 25 degrees. No matter how warm your winter wardrobe is, it’s never quite warm enough… which is how this January Wish List came about. All I’m craving style-wise (food-wise is an entirely different story and wish list!) is cozy texture, layers and comforting warmth.

Now, let’s discuss a few things starting with those BLACK PATENT LOAFERS. Can you believe they’re real leather and only $29!? Gotta love H&M and their PREMIUM COLLECTION. Currently the loafers still available in most sizes, but trust me, they won’t be for long.

Those PRADA SUNGLASSES have been calling to me for a few months now. Definitely a splurge, but they are such a cool blend of cat eye and aviator style that I can’t help but keep coming back to them – sorry Nordstrom sunglass sales lady! They’re also really comfortable and very flattering on most face shapes. Pair those with that FAUX FUR POM-POM BEANIE and you’ll have yourself a practical and on-trend cold weather look!

OK, and we definitely can’t wrap up without addressing that SWEATSHIRT. I know, I know… it’s just a silly graphic sweatshirt, but I love that it’s not too juvenile and looks fantastic with denim. Just check out MARY SENG of HAPPILY GREY and you’ll definitely fall in love with it too…

Ugh… basically, I want it all.

How about YOU?

Friday Link Love, Vol. 93

Friday Link Love Header

1. Enticed by all of the new lobs, bobs, pixies and short hairstyles filling your Instagram feed? Before you make the cut, make sure you can pull off the look with this SIMPLE MEASUREMENT. (

2. As I mentioned earlier this week, ALL YOU NEED IS A CLASSIC WHITE TEE to put together infinitely stylish summer looks. This author definitely agrees with my assessment. (

3. Break out the craft supplies, it’s time for some DIY TISSUE ART! So easy a 1st grader can do it. No seriously… I’m pretty sure my son’s 1st grade class did something similar. (

4. As Kelly Kapur (Mindy Kaling) and Ryan’s (B.J. Novak) horrendously/hilariously awkward relationship played out on The Office, an IRL (in-real-life) horrendously/hilariously awkward relationship was blooming. Now the two actors/writers/producers have scored a book deal (and a whole lot of $!) to WRITE A RELATIONSHIP BOOK  all about it. (

5. As much as I love maxis for easy summer dressing, I’m especially picky when it comes to finding maxi dress styles that I love. THIS happens to be one of them… especially when it’s currently $50 off! (

6. I love success stories about women who build tremendous businesses from the bottom up! This story comes to us courtesy of JESSICA ALBA + HER $1BILLION COMPANY. Yes, that’s $1 Billion, folks. She’s comes a long way since Dark Angel. (

7. Have you guys checked out BLOGLOVIN‘? It’s my favorite way to get all of my favorite blog feeds all in one place. Make sure you follow THE HEART’S DELIGHT and check out all of the other really cool sites for great ideas and daily inspiration. (

Link Love is currently being compiled while eating what may be the MOST DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE-CHIP COOKIES I’ve ever made (and I’ve made quite a few in my time!). Totally epic-level, chocolate-chip cookies. Totally, screw-bikini-season-I’ll-have-another, chocolate-chip cookies. They took some extra time and love but as you can tell, it was a sacrifice worth making. I’ll definitely be sharing the recipe and images next week on the blog!

Have a fantastic weekend! Let’s catch up on Monday, OK?

Mother’s Day Wish List

With Mother’s Day coming up and all (11 days & counting, y’all!), I’ve had a few questions from readers and friends about some great gift ideas for mom. Obviously, every mom is unique, but I think my own personal Mother’s Day wish list might contain a little something that any mama would love and appreciate. Especially, if it came from those that are closest to her heart.

MILLY x DesigNation

I realized it had been a while since I last featured a limited-edition designer collaboration and I thought with all of the hoopla surrounding LILLY PULITZER for TARGET, this amazing MILLY COLLECTION for KOHL’S DESIGNATION might be overlooked.

Have you guys heard or shopped MILLY before? While I’m not exactly the most flirty or feminine when it comes to my style aesthetic, I’ve always loved MILLY’s designs- especially for warmer weather and resortwear (her swimwear is the cutest). The line always seems to find the perfect balance between feminine and edgy, which is exactly what I crave and this collection for Kohl’s stays true to that balance.

MILLY for DesigNation, which makes it’s debut on April 23rd in stores and online, is inspired by designer Michelle Smith’s travels to Capri, Italy:

“The picturesque, ancient resort island of Capri influenced my DesigNation collaboration with Kohl’s,” said Michelle Smith. “Capri’s technicolor vistas, dynamic Mediterranean culture and signature Caprese style of effortlessly chic dressing (the Italians call it ‘sprezzatura’!) were the perfect inspiration for this collection. Every collection I design is a personal extension of myself and my experiences. As the MILLY by Michelle Smith collection defines luxurious, bold, feminine style, I’m thrilled to partner with Kohl’s to offer an exclusive taste of ‘La Dolce Vita’ to women across the country.”

A combination of bright, bold-patterned separates and dresses, the collection starts at only $38 and no piece retails for over $100. My favorite part?! It’s not just for the grown-ups! Smith also designed 2 dresses for the little girls in your life. As a mom herself, she thought it would be fun to let her little girl “dress like mom.”

Taking It To The Street

As Fashion Week draws to a close, not only do I love to take note (and inevitably Pinterest pin) my favorite designer looks that marched down the runway, but I also enjoy browsing through street style photos of the fashion show attendees.  I think it’s important to take notice of how style setters mix in those designer pieces with those that are more wearable, attainable and especially budget friendly. Mixing and matching is the name of the game, kids.

Street style is just so individual and so much more inspirational!  Not to mention, you don’t have to be a 6’0″ size 0 model in order to pull it off beautifully.  Below are a few of my all-time favorite street style looks from this past week and some options on how you can recreate the look yourself!

Fashion Week Street Style Boyfriend Jeans Puffer Coat Moto Boots

Street Style Look #1

H&M down jacket / Gap distressed boyfriend jeans  /  J Crew white shirt /

Tory Burch ankle boots / GiGi New York leather clutch

fashion week 2

Street Style Look #2

H&M marled coat / J.Crew pants / Converse long sleeve sweater /

fashion week 3

Look #3

Zara woolen coat / Jolie By Edward Spiers long sleeve turtleneck /  3.1 Phillip Lim pants /

(All images via Vogue)

I love that all three looks are practical and wearable on a day-to-day basis. As the icing on the street style cake, all of the pieces are probably staples already in your closet.  They’re REAL life… at least they’ll be my real life in the days to come.

What street style images leave YOU inspired?  Please share!

Warm Weather Therapy Header

Another day, yet another Polar-Vortex school cancellation.  Mama needs a vacation.  Immediately!  At this point, I would consider going anywhere as long as the temperature breaks 80-degrees on a consistent basis and there is actual sunshine for more than a brief, fleeting moment.  While jet-setting may not be in my near future, it has been an nice escape simply looking at warm weather clothing and swimwear.  My pasty white skin is far from ready for sun exposure, but I’m definitely ready for some of these new fun clothes.
