After a few cocktails, the topic turned to bedtime routines and more specifically, sleepwear. As in — do you wear any?! As we went around the table, it was surprising (and hysterical) to hear what women actually slept in. More importantly, it was interesting to hear their WHYS.
(Heads up turkeys! I’m comin’ for you!)
October totally slipped away from me… and here we are. A little colder, a little wetter and finally experiencing true fall weather after what was a total Indian Summer (a.k.a October).
Each season, I like to share with you the pieces that I’ve personally worn on repeat — you can check out a few of my recent posts HERE + HERE! Sometimes they’re new additions and sometimes they’re the classic investment pieces that I’ve owned for a few years. Isn’t it great when you love something SO much that you can’t wait to wear it over and over!?
This season (Fall ’17), my favorites happen to be an eclectic, neutral mix of textures. Not much bold color or pattern to speak of, but a whole lot of goodness regardless.
Still on your post-Halloween sugar high!?
I’m coming down slowly… 2 days later.
My kids made sure to give their mom all of their candy rejects — specifically, their Almond Joys which also happen to be my favorite. I know coconut can be polarizing, but I’m a sucker for those little coconut-almond bites of deliciousness. Don’t yuck the yum until you give it a fair chance — or just give all your coconut candy to me!
Now, onto less-caloric business — a renovation house design update!
Trends build over time and spill over into the next biggest, brightest thing in the retail world.
How’d you guys feel about the lace-up trend??
For quite a few seasons, that criss-crossed detail covered everything from top to bottom giving even the simplest of pieces a serious dose of wearable style. Well, prepare yourselves because the lace-up has now evolved into… the ruche!
Confession: I’ve never been a lover of exercise.
It was always a means to an end. Something you had to slog through in order to get the results (healthy mind + body) that you want. In the rare instance I would find a workout I didn’t despise (spinning/running), it would become my long-term de-facto exercise.
Hey, I’m a creature of habit.
It finally feels like Fall in Cleveland which left me scrambling to find all of our cold weather accessories (hat, scarves, gloves, etc.) that were packed away in the moving frenzy. I had brief flashbacks of temporarily losing my FAVORITE HAT last year and the sadness involved. Good news: the gear has been located! Apparently, I’m a little more organized than I thought.
Clearly, I am suffering from a a major case of First World problems and have much to be grateful for — starting with the fact that the weekend is here! On that note, sit back, relax, and have yourself a little dose of Friday Link Love.
What is it with Halloween and women’s costumes?!
It’s the one day of the year where all common fashion sense gets tossed out the window and the style rules of the brothel prevail. I know I’m probably exaggerating (just a little bit), but I just get so frustrated shopping for cute Halloween costumes for women and girls. Everything is so sexualized!
Like, no… I don’t want to be a sexy car wash attendant.
That sexy pizza delivery girl with a skirt smaller than an actual slice of pizza!?
Yeah, I’ll take a pass.
Now, that I got my ranting out of the way, I’ve managed to assemble 3 cute, comfortable and creative Halloween costumes that will make you feel great about your body and comfortable indulging in a few of those candies swiped from the bowl — or your kids’ baskets.
What do you think?
When creating a personal space for both kids and adults alike, it’s important to consider the individual’s personality, tastes and preferences. You want the room to feel like an extension of that person, rather than a hodge-podge of things that are thrown together because they look nice. While children may not always have a say in the way things are done (at least that’s the case in my house!), when it comes to their bedrooms you want them to be a part of the design process.
