Can you believe we’re barreling straight towards Thanksgiving!?
(Heads up turkeys! I’m comin’ for you!)
October totally slipped away from me… and here we are. A little colder, a little wetter and finally experiencing true fall weather after what was a total Indian Summer (a.k.a October).
Each season, I like to share with you the pieces that I’ve personally worn on repeat — you can check out a few of my recent posts HERE + HERE! Sometimes they’re new additions and sometimes they’re the classic investment pieces that I’ve owned for a few years. Isn’t it great when you love something SO much that you can’t wait to wear it over and over!?
This season (Fall ’17), my favorites happen to be an eclectic, neutral mix of textures. Not much bold color or pattern to speak of, but a whole lot of goodness regardless.
As with everything else on this planet, fashion evolves.
Trends build over time and spill over into the next biggest, brightest thing in the retail world.
How’d you guys feel about the lace-up trend??
For quite a few seasons, that criss-crossed detail covered everything from top to bottom giving even the simplest of pieces a serious dose of wearable style. Well, prepare yourselves because the lace-up has now evolved into… the ruche!
It’s the one day of the year where all common fashion sense gets tossed out the window and the style rules of the brothel prevail. I know I’m probably exaggerating (just a little bit), but I just get so frustrated shopping for cute Halloween costumes for women and girls. Everything is so sexualized!
Like, no… I don’t want to be a sexy car wash attendant.
That sexy pizza delivery girl with a skirt smaller than an actual slice of pizza!?
Yeah, I’ll take a pass.
Now, that I got my ranting out of the way, I’ve managed to assemble 3 cute, comfortable and creative Halloween costumes that will make you feel great about your body and comfortable indulging in a few of those candies swiped from the bowl — or your kids’ baskets.
It’s time to pillage and plunger one of the best sale events of the season: SHOPBOP! You have exactly 2 days left to get 20% off purchases UNDER $500, and 25% off purchases OVER $500 with code: EOTS17.
Man, this week is rockin’ and rollin. I can’t thank you all enough for your kind words and encouraging comments on the new house and renovation — especially THE KITCHEN! I’ll be sharing more room-by-room renovation details over the new few weeks and hope you’ll help with some of the design choices — next up: the kids’/guest bathroom!
In the meantime, let’s talk a bit of seasonal fashion — namely, outerwear.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a pretty visual person.
I need to see it, write it or document it, or it didn’t happen.
Thank goodness for sites like Pinterest and Instagram and most importantly, the handy notes feature of my iPhone to keep my thoughts organized. If I’m going “old school,” a mood board is my favorite method to keep my ideas and inspirations in check. Whether I’m pulling an editorial from my favorite magazine, or a quote that simply speaks to me, I like to keep all of these “tidbits” filed together. Over time, I’ll start to see patterns forming and a color story emerging. Moods and emotions become visualized and from this new intel comes a creative springboard from which to draw from as I write, shop and style.
I thought I’d share some of my favorite images and the looks they inspired for this Fall 2017 season ahead.
Sometimes it’s nice to dip our toes outside of our comfort zones.
Whether that’s learning a new skill, trying a new food or flavor, or even testing out a new style of fashion — taking a risk is never a bad thing. Historically, stripes have been unfairly generalized as unflattering, ESPECIALLY when worn on a woman’s bottom.
Well, we’ve come a long way, baby.
Just take a look at these striped pants finds! From wide and bold, to skinny and subtle, these are the pants you’ll be seeing a lot of this season.
Lately, Cleveland has been giving me all of the Fall feels.
Between school starting back up, the cooler temperatures (hello, 60’s!) and even the first hint of leaves dropping, fall is definitely in the air. However, I’m not so willing to give up my summer just yet! Labor Day weekend is still a few days away and as they say, “It’s not over until the fat lady (drinking a pumpkin spice latte) sings!”
If you had a chance to read YESTERDAY’S POST, you might have noticed a bold color creeping into the Fall Trend scene: RED.
As flattering and complimentary as the color red can be, many folks tend to shy away from the bright hue. Red leaves many of us uncertain about how to incorporate it into our wardrobes, or even questioning if the color works with our skin-tones/complexions at all.
Essentially, we opt out before we even give red its fair shot.
I thought I would shed a little light on red and offer up some fun style ideas on how to wear the shade of the season. You know, since we’re good friends and all…
