Clearly, that in itself is worth drinking to… Cheers, my friends.
I rarely get to spend mother-daughter time with my mom without my husband or children in tow, so I’m using this wedding-related weekend getaway (we’re celebrating my future sister-in-law at her bridal shower!) to unwind with my mama. I booked us a hotel suite and we have no other plans aside from shopping, eating, drinking and enjoying each other’s company. I have a mile long list of projects and to-dos waiting for me back home — the moving truck comes on Friday! — but I’m looking forward to tuning out the noise and stress, at least temporarily. Sort of like a real-life “time-out”… but for grown-ups and with booze.

There is always a time and place for sweatpants/yoga pants.
Joggers (THESE are my absolute favorite!) have elevated the comfy staple to new levels and now, with the right styling you can wear those bad boys most anywhere (office or workplace, aside). Now, what if I told you there was an equally comfortable article of clothing that was just as soft, just as easy, but would bring your casual style to a whole new level of chic!?
URBAN OUTFITTERS happens to be one of those overlooked retail surprises.
Trees are starting the change colors, the sky is grey and cool rain is in the forecast. I. LOVE. IT. Our new home is surrounded by mature trees and I’m excited to see all of the colorful changes as the days go on. Now, cleaning up all those leaves… eh, not so much.
This weekend, I’ll be up to more of the same: packing, purging + organizing. Not the most exciting of weekend activities, but it’s nice to see an end in sight. I also foresee some fall-inspired cocktails in my future (keep reading for one of my favorites!). Hey, if I’m gonna be home packing, might as well make it fun!
Here are a few of my favorite internet reads, recipes and sales (a.k.a. Friday Link Love!) to inject a bit more fun into YOUR weekend!
One of this season’s biggest NYFW trends comes to us from a place other than the runway — the street.
If you’ve been coming here for a while, you know that I take much of my inspiration from street style fashion. Rather than focus on more editorial and unrealistic model goals, I prefer to see how real people interpret the runway trends and wear them in real life and on real bodies. One of these trends spotted on repeat has been the menswear-inspired plaid blazer.
With our big move right around the corner, I’ve started to consider what clothes will be coming with me into interim housing while the renovations are in full swing.
Always a minimalist at heart, I want to ensure that I have all of the essentials necessary to get me through the fall. The fewer pieces, the better. This led me to start categorizing my wardrobe and pulling my absolute favorites from the top of the lists. What I realized, is that there are truly only 4 basics necessary to create my absolute, favorite fall outfit: cozy sweater, fitted pants/jeans, mid /low-heel boots and a neutral coat.
Sounds like a no brainer, huh?!
Sometimes it’s nice to dip our toes outside of our comfort zones.
Whether that’s learning a new skill, trying a new food or flavor, or even testing out a new style of fashion — taking a risk is never a bad thing. Historically, stripes have been unfairly generalized as unflattering, ESPECIALLY when worn on a woman’s bottom.
Well, we’ve come a long way, baby.
Just take a look at these striped pants finds! From wide and bold, to skinny and subtle, these are the pants you’ll be seeing a lot of this season.
Yes, I know, I’m far from 21.
I’m also unlikely to step foot into an actual brick and mortar FOREVER 21 store anytime soon. It’s generally too loud, too messy and too chaotic for me. Clearly, another sign of being “old-er.” However, when I quietly browse the FOREVER 21 website from the comfort of home, with coffee in hand I can’t help but click “add-to-cart”… probably more times than I should.
If you’re looking to incorporate a few inexpensive new additions into your Fall wardrobe, these are definitely hard to resist!
