I’m heading sprinting into this Friday, Usain Bolt style. Hooray for the weekend!
I keep reminding myself that I have 2 more weeks. Only 2 more weeks to plow through until my kids wrap up the school year, my client appointments start to ease up and the last of my event styling wraps up for the season. Usually, when I have this much going on I toss and turn at night and can’t seem to settle my mind enough to get any sleep. This time, my body and brain are so physically exhausted I literally collapse into bed at the end of the day and don’t wake up (or even roll over!) until my alarm goes off in the morning.
By the way, you need to set all of your alarms to the iPhone “chimes” setting. It’s the softest, most non-jarring alarm sound that I’ve found. I consider this a small life victory.
Now that we got that all out of the way, let’s get down to important business — Friday Link Love!
And just like that, we’ve made it to the end of the week!
While yesterday, I woke up to a brisk 19º F, today it’s supposed to hit 70° F. Nothing like Spring in Cleveland! I say that with sarcasm and an eye roll. Speaking of eye rolls — that pretty much the only part of my upper body I can move without pain this morning. I woke up to a muscle strain/spasm in my upper back/right shoulder and I literally can’t move. Getting dressed and trying to tame my hair was an epic fail. I’ve already popped some Aleve and I’m hoping the muscles relax enough for me to get through my day, crazy hair and all.
Getting old stinks.
To take my mind off the searing pain and discomfort, I’ve put together a great roundup of internet reads to share with you. So let’s get to it! This week’s edition of Friday Link Love is right this way…
This season can most certainly be called, “A Tale of Two Winters!”
One day, I wake up and it’s close to 70 degrees, birds are chirping and tulips are starting to poke through the ground. Today, I wake up and there is 2+ inches of snow on the ground with a high of 29 degrees. Last week, I thought I packed away all of cold weather gear and accessories for good — I guess I should have known better! Good thing I’m obsessed with myDANNER BOOTS — at least I have another opportunity to break them out.
This is a slightly short week for me as the kids are home from school today (and Monday) for President’s Day weekend. For now, the house is clean and quiet, kids are still asleep and I’m plugging away, trying to get through my regular work load before all chaos breaks loose!
I’m pleased to report that aside from the fact that we are mere hours away from the weekend, the sinus infection from hell that has plagued me for 2 weeks has finally been reigned in. All it took was 2 trips to the doctor, a dose of antibiotics, a dose of steroids, daily anti-inflammatories, a humidifier and about 1,000 tissues. Man, I don’t get sick that often, but when I do — I go down HARD. This is precisely the time of year when the stress of frigid, dry weather, and close indoor quarters start to take their toll.
My point?! Take care of yourselves, people and WASH YOUR HANDS!
Now, onto happier, healthier thoughts — this week’s assortment of Friday Link Love reads!
Overall, the best way to categorize this week was weird and unexpected. From an unexpected snow day on Monday, to an unexpected bout of sinusitis and a whole lot of political drama and turmoil, it’s definitely been a go-with-the-flow kind of last few days. My reward? A quick 36-hour kid-free getaway with my husband. You’ll just have to follow along onINSTAGRAM + TWITTERto see where we’re up to!
If you’re in need of a mental break as much as I am, why not start with these Friday Link Love best reads of the week?
Got any big plans? We have college friends and their 2 kids en route from Philadelphia to spend a full (hopefully, sun-filled) weekend up in the CLE. We’ve planned a mix of adult and child-friendly weekend fun and I’m ready to get started!
