Friday Link LoveWas it just me, or did January feel as though it was never-ending?

It’s hard to believe all of those New Year’s Eve celebrations were only a month ago! It’s pretty crazy when you sit down and think about it. In my own life, so much has changed since that ball dropped. In a good way, of course! I’m finally starting to feel settled into the new house and we’re getting our new routines in place. I’ve been sharing little snippets of our rooms and decor on INSTAGRAM, but as you know, photos are pretty deceiving as there is still a ton of work to do to get the house decorated and us feeling fully “moved in.”

There are still many (SO many) cardboard boxes to break down… ugh… those boxes!

In addition to garbage management, I’ve got a few more fun things on my weekend agenda beginning with this week’s Friday Link Love reads. Hope you enjoy!

Friday Link LoveI think I may be been more excited today than a kid on Christmas morning.

Our final house walk through is this afternoon and I’m still in shock that our renovation project is coming to an end right on schedule. Errrrrrrr, on budget — not so much. Actually, it’s a mix of shock, relief and pure joy. Most of all, I’m tired, y’all. Good thing I have a giant sectional couch being delivered today.

You might need to peel my a** off of it later.

Just make sure to read this week’s Friday Link Love roundup before you swing by! Oh, and don’t forget to bring some wine. Actually, A LOT of wine.

Friday Link Love Black FridayHere we are again… Friday!

The last few weeks before the holidays always speed by in a blur of happy hours, parties, dinners and concerts. Last night was my son’s holiday band concert and he was beyond excited to show off his percussion skills! Yes, he’s an actual little drummer boy.  Little known fact about me — I took 12 years of piano lessons as a kid/teen and would love for my child(ren) to pick up a musical instrument. I was feeling nostalgic this week and looked into professionally transporting my childhood piano from my parent’s home in NY to our new home in Cleveland. It costs a small fortune. At this point, it’s a grudge match between practical Stella and sentimental Stella.

I’ll let you know who wins.

As for now, let’s indulge in a little Friday Link Love reading!

Friday Link LoveFriday, already!?

Wow, did the past few days seem to zip right by. This week was a lot of juggling — renovation projects, styling + THD projects, kid-related commitments/activities… you get the gist. I’ve been putting a lot of stress on myself with this renovation and specifically, the financials of it. Not to sugar coat anything, watching all of your savings get transferred away with a swipe of a keystroke is scary, regardless of how much financial planning and research is done in advance. Knowing we’re only halfway in, with the biggest spending month of the year ahead (Happy Holidays!) had me all worked up – to say the least.

Then I read THE NIGHTINGALE and my perspective on my situation is completely reset.

Friday Link LoveI think most people are breathing a collective sigh of relief that this week is coming to an end. It’s been a rough one on many levels.

The good news is that the weekend is here and we can unwind a little of that built up tension/anxiety with some relaxation, self-care and in my case, a cocktail (or three).  At least, that’s my plan.

Friday Link LoveOur Indian Summer has called it quits and this Friday, it certainly feels like Fall.

Trees are starting the change colors, the sky is grey and cool rain is in the forecast. I. LOVE. IT. Our new home is surrounded by mature trees and I’m excited to see all of the colorful changes as the days go on. Now, cleaning up all those leaves… eh, not so much.

This weekend, I’ll be up to more of the same: packing, purging + organizing. Not the most exciting of weekend activities, but it’s nice to see an end in sight. I also foresee some fall-inspired cocktails in my future (keep reading for one of my favorites!). Hey, if I’m gonna be home packing, might as well make it fun!

Here are a few of my favorite internet reads, recipes and sales (a.k.a. Friday Link Love!) to inject a bit more fun into YOUR weekend!

Friday Link LoveSeptember is cruising right along, isn’t it?

This week, Cleveland went all blazing hot summer on us, after 3 weeks barely hovering in the 60’s-70’s. Just in time for the official start to fall! Getting dressed becomes much more complex when you’ve already packed the majority of your summer clothes away. D’oh!!

Speaking of packing, I still have a ton of house packing to do. Sometimes, I look around and think, “It won’t be so bad — I don’t have THAT much stuff?!” Other times, I’m completely paralyzed with anxiety about getting it all done.

Clearly, my brain/nervous system likes to keep me on my toes.

On today’s agenda (besides getting some major packing accomplished), is squeezing in some guilty pleasure reading, eating + shopping — starting with these Friday Link Love finds!

Friday Link LoveGood morning, people.

Can you believe it’s already mid-September!? My favorite month of the year is flying by way too quickly. In style-related news, NYFW wrapped up and it’s off to Paris for the next iteration of Fashion Week. Get ready for some Parisian inspired looks next week!

In house news, progress was made at the new Casa de Heart’s Delight — overhead utility lines were buried and the electrical upgrade is almost completed. The kitchen and bathrooms were designed and finishes selected. Today is the final design meeting with the contractor team and up next — walls will be coming down!! The thought of wide open spaces and good traffic flow makes me giddy with joy. I can’t wait to share photos and progress with you… because you know, if you don’t post it on social media/internet, it didn’t happen.

In the meantime, hopefully this week’s Friday Link Love reads will keep you occupied!

Friday Link LoveI gotta be honest, I just haven’t been feeling it lately. Have you ever had one of those days/weeks/months? My creative brain is closed for business, I’ve been distracted, overwhelmed and uninspired. As a result, I feel as though I just haven’t been my best — at work, at home, etc.

Just going through the motions, you know?!

In all truthfulness, there’s been a lot going on and the constant stress, anxiety and responsibility have crushed my sleep, my appetite and my general disposition.

(Sorry to be quite vague, but I’ll be sharing more in a few days. Don’t worry, it’s all positive stuff!)

I feel like I’m constantly on razor’s edge, which trust me, is not a good place to be. I’m hoping this upcoming holiday weekend will take some of the “Ugghhhh!!!” out of my daily lexicon and bring me back to a more balanced place. Coincidentally, one of the few things that helps me escape all of the mental chaos is online browsing. I love to get lost in new news feeds, blogs and shopping sites. It’s pretty therapeutic (at least for me!) to peruse “NEW ARRIVALS” at my favorite stores. Even though I may not buy anything (at least I didn’t until this morning – whoops.), it’s a relaxing exercise to fill up my assorted virtual carts and think about fun things like fashion, accessories, food, travel and beauty.

So, on that note — let’s get to this week’s Friday Link Love!

Friday Link LoveThis has been quite the crazy news week, huh!?

Between the North Korean nuclear threat, the racial tensions/violence in our own country and the terror attack in Barcelona, I’m hesitant to turn on the TV with my kids in the room. I feel as though I say this more and more in the last few years: What is WRONG with people!? I had to have a conversation with my 8 year old earlier this week about kindness and how important it was to be kind to others. I emphasized that his one small act of kindness can entirely change the course of a person’s day. Now imagine if the adults in the world followed the same guideline I gave my 8 year old. I’m not saying the world’s problems would be solved, but man, what an impact that could make.

Now, with all of the heavy stuff out of the way, how about a light distraction in the form of this week’s Friday Link Love roundup!?
