Yesterday’s post was all about fall (you can check it outHERE!) and might have bummed me out a little.
Why does summer have to go by so fast!?
Today, I’m putting on the brakes and taking a step back. I’ve posted a few times now about my favorite summer accessory — my CULT GAIA ARK BAG. I get at least one compliment on it every time I wear it. Although the summer season is about 3/4 of the way done, I’m constantly looking for the next “it bag” that I’ll wear to death. It doesn’t need fancy labels or a sky-high, designer price tag. I would actually prefer it to be an under-the-radar find that oozes style from across the room.
Now that off-the-shoulder is about as mainstream as you can get and you guys KNOW MY FEELINGS on those dreaded shoulder cut-out tops, the fashion powers that be have decided to switch it up again and bring us the next “it” top of the season: the one shoulder top.
I’ve seen the style slowly creep in over the course of the summer and I have a hunch that there will be a lot more of it come this fall. One sleeve is better than no sleeves when it’s cold outside — am I right, or am I right?!
One of my favorite style tricks for looking put together in a flash is to go head-to-toe monochromatic.
Whether white, black or really, any other color in between, monochromatic fashion takes some of the pressure out of putting together a fun and cohesive outfit, when you just can’t… Which unfortunately, happens to the best of us!
This post is coming to you direct from Newport, RI!
I’ve been having quite the whirlwind getaway! If you haven’t been to Newport, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a beautiful harbor front town with delicious food, scenic views, great New England history and beautiful accommodations. I’ll be doing a full getaway guide in a few days, but in the meantime let’s get back to style!
I think patio dining/drinking might be one of my top 3 things about summer.
Now that I have children, my time al fresco is definitely much more limited than it used to be back in the day. Kids and long, boozy brunches just don’t seem to mix very well. So when I have an opportunity to head downtown and sit outside sans the menagerie, I’m all over it!
You know what else I’m all over?! Gingham… and distressed denim (in no particular order).
There is no better time than smack in the middle of summer, to lighten up a bit — both in spirit, as well as in style! While I’ve always been a little wary of white — especially since having kids — this BARDOT MIDI DRESS had an effortless feel about it. The easy cut and draping fabric combination makes this dress an instant summer white dress winner. Most importantly, it makes me feel really pretty.
I’m a big believer that most fashion rules are outdated, unnecessary and simply should be ignored.
You want to wear white after Labor Day!? DO IT, girl.
Thinking about pairing black with navy? Yaaaaaaaaaaassssss.
Sneakers with a dress?? Get after it.
It seems the older we get, the more of these archaic fashion rules apply. For example, who decided that once we are a certain age, mini skirts are no longer appropriate?! I’d like to meet this individual and have a serious sit down.
Navigating fashion trends and changing styles definitely becomes a bit trickier with age, but with the right know-how you can proudly rock that mini skirt and take back the hemline. #FreeTheLegs — I think I’m onto the next big social media trending movement!
Can you believe the July 4th holiday weekend is only a few days away!? This particular holiday tends to sneak right in.
Regardless of your age bracket, your personal style and your particular Independence Day plans, we all seem to get into the Independence Day spirit — just a little. I mean, who doesn’t like fireworks!? Here are 3 easy fashion girl approved outfits to wear this July 4th weekend that are both celebratory AND cool.
Anyone else obsessing over the little white dress?
There are so many cute ones on the market lately! While I try hard to keep my wardrobe edited and streamlined, I can’t help but want to continuously add to my little white dress collection. What makes it even more challenging, is that all of these cute styles are so reasonably priced and all ring in at UNDER $100.
Need more proof that a little white dress is where it’s at this season? Check out the roundup of my favorite styles below!
Mine was super fun! We hosted my brother and his fiance and spent the last 2 days giving them a grand tour of Cleveland. After we parted ways, I spent some time attacking my closet and doing some much needed editing.
There is nothing like the feeling of a good closet purge to get your week started off right!
